Give Us This Day had a meditation that really made me think about sin . This meditation was written in the 12th century by Isaac of Stella, an English -born Cistercian. There is a phrase in this writing that helped me to see sin differently. “…..Lord Jesus…. cast out from me, your servant, every delight in sin, so that I may repent with contrite heart.”
I never considered sin as something delightful. Maybe sin is just that, or why is it I keep repeating the same ones. I go to reconciliation and repeat and repeat the same sins again and again. Does that mean I enjoy the sins ? Am I really repenting? Am I taking God’s forgiveness for granted?
Dear Jesus help me be truthful to myself. Help me to see! Help me to understand! I do want a contrite heart! And my God I definitely do not want to take You for granted!
