“Something new is coming. ” Those words from Fr. Victor in his homily today brings two different feelings into my being. One is the feeling of hope. We are in Easter and newness of life is upon us; we are eagerly waiting for Pentecost and the arrival of our advocate, the Holy Spirit! Unfortunately with Fr. Victor’s words also comes the fear of change. What is our life going to look like in the near future? Is our country and its people going to unite as one or are we going to create a bigger chasm between us?
Dear Advovate, help us to heal physically, spiritually, and mentally. Open our minds, our hearts, and our souls to You! Let us listen and learn from You! We would like to be as one with You, my Triune God! Help us to see the world and its people through your eyes, not through our own. Lead us to a positive and more spiritual change. Holy Spirit of God we need You! Holy Spirit of God we pray! Lead us with Your own special power! Lead us in Your own special way!

Thanks, Berta. Suppose we see change as God’s work. That could help with the fear. Too much of our news is the bad news of change. But Jesus says, “I make all things new.” Then there is the great mystery that oversees change; the Cross of the Lord. We have to hold fast to that mystery. FV
