Blind Guides

“Blind Guides”
Luke 6:39-40 and Matthew 15:14 in a couplet

And he told them a parable, “Can a blind person guide a blind person? Will not both fall into a pit? No disciple is superior to the teacher; but when fully trained, every disciple will be like his teacher.”

Luke 6:39-30

Let them alone; they are blind guides (of the blind). If a blind person leads a blind person, both will fall into a pit.

Matthew 15:14

Jesus found the sheep of his flock emaciated, tattered and torn for lack of green pastures and caring shepherds. Religious authorities who did not teach or model the true essence of the Law and the Prophets were called “blind.”

Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘If one swears by the temple, it means nothing, but if one swears by the gold of the temple, one is obligated.’

Matthew 23:16

Blind fools, which is greater, the gold, or the temple that made the gold sacred?

Matthew 23:17

You blind ones, which is greater, the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?

Matthew 23:19

Blind guides, who strain out the gnat and swallow the camel!

Matthew 23:24

Dear GMC, You give us so much to think about in your reflection. I’m still trying to find my way. Luckily, I’m directed towards Jesus and I close my eyes and let Him lead.
